Moooi was founded in 2001 by two designers, Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers. Its name derives from the Dutch word "Mooi" that defines the concept of "beauty" in a broad sense. They added a third "o" to the word in order to distinguish between the two words and add further value to the brand's unique concept. The Moooi collection starts with the projects of the two founders, and then other international exponents of today's contemporary design sector became involved.
